Harold and the Purple Crayon is a lovely, simple story that really sparks the imaginations of young children. It is the story of a small boy who goes for a walk in the moonlight with his purple crayon, drawing everything he imagines along the way. Harold’s quick thinking (and that purple crayon) saves him from the dangers he encounters. The illustrations are very simple and not overly engaging for children however the subtle humor in the text is incredibly appealing and children can relate to Harold’s ideas. This is a great story for pre- and early school aged children.
